The Harold Washington College (HWC) Career Planning and Job Placement Services (CPPS) department offers an array of services and resources for people seeking jobs. Students who are undecided about their career choices can benefit from various employment related books, videos, job search websites and state-of-the-art computer software programs that will help them determine which careers are suitable for them. Another valuable resource for career planning and job placement that students can access online via the Internet is the QuietAgent™ website located at http://info.quietagent.com/.

At the Career Planning and Job Placement Services (CPPS) department, students will receive career advisement and assistance in developing an individual career/educational plan.

One of the most popular services that the Career Planning and Job Placement Services (CPPS) department offers to Harold Washington College students, is our Resume Writing and Interviewing Skills workshops during the Fall and Spring semesters. We have other services within the Career Planning and Job Placement Service department that are designed to prepare students for an effective job search, and also include videotaped mock interviews and resume-writing tips. Templates for resumes and cover letters help simplify the writing of these documents, and fax machines are available to send them to potential employers.

CPPS also has various career and job placement programs in place for interested students. Some of the programs already in place include the following:

  • Cooperative Work Study Program
  • Internship Programs

In addition to the programs CPPS already has in place, the department also posts full-time and part-time employment opportunities on a regular basis. Most popular among job seekers is the Internet Job Match. CPPS also coordinates two Career Fairs per year (usually in April and November), bringing together employers and prospective employees in an informative, professional setting.
