Charge to the Center's Community Advisory Council |
| The Community Advisory Council works with the Director of the Center for Creative Aging to further the
achievement of the Center's Philosophy, Mission and Goals.

The specific functions of the Council and its individual members are:
- To understand and support the philosophy, mission and goals of the Center for Creative Aging;
- To use each member's network of contacts throughout the Chicago Metropolitan Area to advocate for the philosophy of
the Center for Creative Aging and for the achievement of its mission and goals, and to increase attendance at its events
and enrollment in the Encore Program for students 50 and above;
- To draw upon each member's expertise as an educational, civic or business leader to advise the Director of the Center
on issues pertaining to the needs and interests of Chicagoans fifty and above and to provide advice on the Center's
educational and research programs and the development of volunteer opportunities;
- To continually build the diversity and value of the Council by identifying and incorporating members who would bring
an important perspective, professional experience or skill set to augment those already represented on the Board, and
who have the desire and time to serve on project task forces;
- To suggest and provide contacts to organizations, businesses, and institutions that would be valuable partners in one
or more of the Center's programs;
- To assist the Director in finding pro-bono or affordable market research and advertising services, in locating space
for programs and events offered by the Center, and in seeking private and public foundation grants, and gifts from
businesses and individuals to support the operations, programs and events of the Center;
- To propose ideas for new programs and to provide feedback to the Director on plans and programs in progress of the
Center for Creative Aging;
- To route to the Director creative ideas and innovative programs for older middle-aged adults outside Chicago that the
Center for Creative Aging might consider implementing;
The Council meets twice annually [Fall and Spring]. Task Forces meet monthly or on an as-needed basis. Members are expected
to help publicize and attend Center functions and events, as their schedules permit.
