Transfer Center
Welcome to the Transfer Center - The Harold Washington College (HWC) Transfer Center, located in Room 101, is your campus resource for information about the transfer process. Whether you are a traditional age student, a working adult student, or an international student—the Transfer Center will provide the information or help you to find the materials and resources that will answer your questions about four year institutions. Our purpose is to ease your transition to the four-year, college/university environment by providing the information and direction you may need. We want your transfer experience to be a seamless one—one that continues you on your journey to academic and career success.
Whether you are a traditional age student, a working adult student, or an international student—the Transfer Center will provide the information, or will help you to find the materials and resources that will answer your questions about four-year institutions.
The Transfer Degrees that are available to you at HWC are the Associate of Arts in Teaching (AAT), Associate in Arts (AA), Associate in Engineering Science (AES), Associate in Fine Arts (AFA), and the Associate in Science (AS).
Harold Washington College is a participant in the Illinois Articulation Initiative (IAI). More than one hundred Illinois higher education institutions participate in the IAI, statewide. The participating institutions agree to accept a "package" of IAI approved general education courses instead of their own comparable general education courses. Thus the IAI general education courses transfer from HWC to the four year institution as a package. This process works best for students who have chosen their majors, are planning to transfer, but are undecided about which college/university to attend to complete their baccalaureate degrees.
The Higher Learning Commission of the North Central Association of Colleges and Universities accredits Harold Washington College. HWC accepts transfer credits from institutions that are also regionally accredited by one of the following associations:
