Associate In Arts (AA): minimum 62 credit hours required (Program/Plan Number: 0210)
The Harold Washington College (HWC) Associate of Arts (AA) degree is intended for students planning to transfer to a four-year college or university to complete a baccalaureate degree. The 62 credit hour degree comprises a minimum of 38 credit hours in general education, 16 elective credit hours, and 8 credit hours in a foreign language.
Students may choose from a broad selection of liberal arts courses to complete this degree. Completion of the Associate of Arts degree prepares students to transfer with junior standing. Students must also complete the Associate of Arts Degree Core Curriculum (PDF) and Illinois Articulation Initiative course requirements. Associate In Science (AS): minimum 64 credit hours required (Program/Plan Number: 0211)
The Harold Washington College (HWC) Associate of Science (AS) degree is intended for students planning to transfer to a four-year college or university to complete a baccalaureate degree. The 64 credit hour degree comprises a minimum of 39 credit hours in general education, 14 additional credit hours in Mathematics and Physical/Life Sciences, and 11 elective credit hours and is designed so that students may choose from a broad selection of science courses.
Completion of the Associate of Science degree prepares students to transfer with junior standing.
