In addition to Harold Washington College's existing short term training programs such as Public Chauffeur and Food Service Sanitation development programs, the Continuing Education department in concert with the Harold Washington College's Career Department is proud to teach critical skills to students seeking to be successful in a second career (Encore College Students,) as well as traditional students seeking career development competencies or personal enrichment.

Fall 2010 Continuing Education Upcoming Event Information
Session One - Introduction to the Red Cross and Be Red Cross Ready
Come and learn about the humanitarian mission of the Red Cross, the services provided to the community and how you can turn your compassion into action by volunteering with the Greater Chicago chapter. Be Red Cross Ready emphasizes three (3) important actions that every individual and family can take to better prepare themselves for whatever may come. There is no tuition or fee for both sessions!
Session Two - Community Disaster Education Leader Training
The purpose of this workshop is to prepare volunteers who are interested in becoming Community Disaster Education presenters to teach their peer and social groups about the risks and preventative actions to take before, during and after a disaster. Such disaster specific topics include residential fires, winter storms, floods, heat waves and more.
Note: In order to attend this session, participants are required to attend Session One.
